Description

In the throwing tomahawk class, students will forge a throwing tomahawk with forge welded high carbon cutting bit. Skills learned: tapering/drawing out, bending, drifting, forge welding, heat treatment, hardening and tempering, cutting with a chisel, basic forging and manipulating the cross section of a bar, fire management when working in the coal forge, and fitting the tomahawk to a handle. In addition to this, we will also discuss parts of the anvil, blacksmith tools, and design elements as they apply to the blacksmith. At the end of the day students will have the chance to do some target practice throwing their new tomahawk. The cost of the course is $175, and all tools and materials are included.
