Project Safe is seeking a dedicated Shelter Advocate to provide support, crisis intervention, and shelter operations assistance during overnight and weekend hours. This role plays a vital part in ensuring survivors of domestic violence and their children have access to a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.
Responsibilities include assisting residents with daily needs, conducting shelter intakes, maintaining shelter safety and security, answering hotline calls, providing emotional support, making community referrals, and responding to crisis situations as they arise. Advocates also help maintain the overall organization and cleanliness of the shelter while working collaboratively with staff to ensure high-quality services for residents.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with survivors of domestic violence or related populations, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to trauma-informed care. Flexibility, emotional maturity, and the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential.
