Unsung Heroes of the Storm
Unsung Heroes of the Storm
As our community prepared for the recent winter storm, there was a group quietly working behind the scenes to make sure Madison County was ready, our local small businesses.
In the days leading up to the storm, local grocery stores, hardware stores, pharmacies, and convenience retailers went above and beyond to serve our community. They kept customers informed about what was in stock, accepted frequent and sometimes unpredictable deliveries, managed waitlists to ensure fairness, and answered countless phone calls, all while running their daily operations and preparing their own families and businesses for the storm.
These business owners and employees did not slow down when demand increased. Instead, they leaned in. They showed patience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to their neighbors. Their actions reminded us that in moments of uncertainty, it is often small businesses that allow us to truly look out for one another.
It is small businesses that deliver the exemplary customer service we value. It is small businesses that know their customers by name, listen to their concerns, and respond with care. And it is small businesses that continue to pour into our community, especially during times of challenge.
As the ice clears and we begin returning to our regular schedules, we encourage everyone to intentionally visit these local businesses. Many may have experienced temporary closures or reduced hours during the winter storm, and your continued support makes a meaningful difference. Take a moment to thank the owners and employees, share your appreciation, and continue to show up for the businesses that showed up for us.
This is what it means to be MADICO MADE, neighbors supporting neighbors, businesses serving with heart, and a community stronger because we choose each other.
