Description

The Broad River Watershed Association Board presents a unique 5K trail run set on a privately owned farm managed for conservation and recreation. The race begins and ends along the banks of the Broad River, with a scenic route that meanders through open meadows, hardwood forests, and longleaf pine stands. Walkers are welcome to participate. Following the run, participants are invited to take part in an optional group Polar Plunge in the Broad River at the farm’s beautiful beach. This shared experience embraces the spirit of “freezin’ for a reason,” with proceeds supporting the Broad River Watershed Association’s water quality monitoring program.

The Broad River Watershed Association (BRWA) invites supporters and local businesses to join in protecting one of Georgia’s last free-flowing, clean rivers, the Broad River, by becoming a BRWA Corporate Partner.

With a sponsorship of $250 or more, Corporate Partners receive logo recognition on Run for the River and Polar Plunge participant t-shirts, all related event materials, award certificates, promotional materials for the May Shoal Lily Float, and placement on the BRWA website.

As outlined in the attached flyer, BRWA is actively engaged in hands-on conservation and community-based work throughout the watershed. Efforts include water-quality monitoring through Georgia Adopt-A-Stream, research collaborations with the University of Georgia, development of practical tools for local governments, river cleanups, and educational programming. BRWA’s mission is broad in scope and firmly grounded in science, stewardship, and community action.

Support from Corporate Partners makes this work possible and helps BRWA to:

• Safeguard water quality through scientific monitoring, with data uploaded to Georgia Adopt-A-Stream and Savannah Riverkeeper databases
• Protect land by monitoring conservation easements and providing stewardship for properties owned by BRWA
• Expand education and outreach initiatives
• Offer opportunities for people to explore, enjoy, and care for the Broad River through annual spring and fall floats, the Run for the River, and the Polar Plunge
• Continue building research and conservation partnerships that strengthen the region’s long-term ecological health
