Athens Driving Prep offers private in-car driving lessons to new drivers. Our primary clients are teen and young adult drivers, as well as international adult students. With distracted driving on the rise, it is imperative that our new drivers are given a solid and thorough driving education; we achieve this by using a tried and true curriculum. As a driving instructor, you will be entirely responsible for the safety of yourself, your student, and the instructional car at all times.

• This position should be considered a commitment to the driver education industry
• Part time, fairly seasonal, piecework to be paid per two-hour lesson taught
• Many lessons are taught on weekends and after school hours
• Perfect for teachers, retirees, or as a special for LEO’s who want to supplement their current income and do not need benefits
• Flexible schedule
• This is a small, new family business

Minimums:

• Need to have held a class C license for at least 10 years and have a very good DMV record
• Must pass national background/fingerprint check and drug test (cost to be reimbursed when hired upon completion of training program)
• Must pass a DOT physical (cost to be reimbursed when hired upon completion of training program)
• Must apply and be accepted as a licensed instructor by the Georgia Department of Driver Services
• Should have some prior teaching or coaching experience, be able to stay calm and have patience, and enjoy working with teens and young adults

TRAINING WILL REQUIRE SOME COMMITMENT:

• Completion of 30-hour driver education course and exam (course paid by company)
• Passing the State of GA driving instructor’s certification exam (paid by company)
• Completion of 12 hours of introductory in-car observations (not reimbursed)
• Completion of 26 to 40 hours of in-car instructor’s training (time up to thirty hours reimbursed upon completion of training and hiring)
