Opportunity: Appalachian Entrepreneurship Academy – Summer 2026

Opportunity: Appalachian Entrepreneurship Academy – Summer 2026

Aspiring innovators from across Appalachia are invited to apply for the 2026 Appalachian Entrepreneurship Academy (AEA); a transformative, two-week residential experience hosted at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Designed for current 9th–11th grade students, AEA offers an immersive blend of outdoor exploration, hands-on learning, and real-world entrepreneurship training.

Over the course of the program, students work in collaborative teams to identify challenges, design solutions, and develop prototype business ideas. Guided by experienced mentors and regional entrepreneurs, participants gain practical skills in creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and pitching—culminating in a presentation to a panel of established business leaders.

AEA isn’t just about building ideas; it’s about building community. Students from all 13 Appalachian states take part each summer, forming lasting friendships while discovering the unique strengths and opportunities of the region. Weekend excursions to iconic destinations—such as Grandfather Mountain—add to the experience, helping students connect both with nature and with the broader Appalachian story.

This program is completely cost-free, including housing, meals, travel, materials, and activities, thanks to support from the Appalachian Regional Commission and partner organizations.

Application Deadline: December 3, 2025

(Subject to available funding)

Students interested in entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation, or community impact are encouraged to apply.
